Project Summary: I wanted to capture the feeling of being able to swim within this underwater city. To share an unseen world.
Cabomba is a submerged native water plant that plays a role in the health of Lady Bird Lake and the Colorado River. From a certain perspective, they are the underwater skyscrapers. Not created by us, but play a role in supporting us. The essence of this new video work revolves around curiosity, discovery, and life that escapes our attention. Below the complex urban ecosystem that is Austin, lies another natural ecosystem that deserves equal attention and care. I think about our role in these delicate habitats and how we might preserve or become stewards of those landscapes as we and the city grow.
